Mack Wilberg

Mack Wilberg ( born in 1955 in Price, Utah) is an American composer, arranger and choir director. Since 2008 he has been music director of the Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City.

Life

Mack Wilberg was born in 1955 in Price, Utah, the son of LaMar Wilberg, the partner and managing director of the Wilberg coal mine, and his wife Helen. Even in his early childhood he was given piano lessons. He was also a gifted clarinetist.

After graduating from high school Wilberg completed a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter -day Saints in South Korea. Then he took his music studies at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, at which he graduated with a bachelor's degree. Then he continued his music studies at the University of Southern California and earned a master's there and a doctorate degree.

Wilberg was a professor of music at Brigham Young University. He was appointed as Deputy Music Director of the Tabernacle Choir and conductor of the Temple Square Chorale in 1999, on 28 March 2008 he followed Craig Jessop as music director of the Tabernacle Choir after.

Works

Wilberg composed and arranged especially choral works. He takes on Christmas songs, American folk songs and hymns. He published exclusively by Oxford University Press.
