Madapolam

The Madapolam ( probably after his place of origin, a district of Narsapur in the East Indies, named) is a smooth, fine, slightly shiny cotton fabric which is used in the manufacture of shirts and dresses, as a ground fabric or printing. The quality is considered to be comparable to the Batiste. The fabric was also for covering aircraft such as the de Havilland Mosquito used.

Its density is about 40x31 threads per 1 cm. Originally thus a coarse twilled cotton fabric was called.
