Madeleine de Souvré, marquise de Sablé

Madeleine de Souvre, Marquise de Sablé (* 1599, † 1678, Madame de Sablé called ) was a French nobleman and salonière.

Madeleine was one of six children and was educated at the French court. She married at age 15 Philippe Emmanuel de Laval ( Marquis de Sablé ) out of the house of Montmorency, with whom she had nine children. After the death of her husband in 1640 she was in consequence of the complicated life of the deceased from now in precarious financial circumstances.

First of loyal visitor of the salon of the Marquise de Rambouillet, Madame de Sablé opened after her death in 1655 her own salon in Port Royal des Champs, who soon became one of the most popular in Paris. Here perverted example, François de La Rochefoucauld and Madame de La Fayette.

1678 Abbé d' Ailly published just after her death, her volume of aphorisms Maximes, with whom she continued the created by La Rochefoucauld genre.
