Madeleine Renaud

Madeleine Renaud (* February 21, 1900 as Lucie Madeleine Renaud in Paris, † September 23, 1994 in Neuilly -sur- Seine) was a French stage and film actress.

Life

Renaud appeared in 1921 in the prestigious Comédie Française one. During her career she played mainly naive roles. In 1940 she married the ten -years-younger actor Jean -Louis Barrault. Together with him she left the Comédie Française in 1948 and founded the private stage Compagnie Renauld - Barrault at the Théâtre Marigny. Together with her husband she enjoyed the confidence of Minister of Culture André Malraux. This trust was broken, however, as they showed in 1968 in solidarity with the rebelling students of Paris. They occurred during her long career on in a large number of theater productions and films. One of her most famous roles was the Maude in " Harold and Maude ". She was the aunt of actress Marie -Christine Barrault, who was married until his death by Roger Vadim.

Renaud died in September 1994, seven months after her husband's death.
