Madhavrao Scindia

Madhavrao Scindia (Hindi: माधवराव सिंडिया ) ( born March 10, 1945 in Bombay; † 30 September 2001 in Mainpuri ) was an Indian politician.

Biography

He was a descendant of the influential Maratha Scindia dynasty, in 1947 presented the ruler of the princely state of Gwalior to the sovereignty of India. In 1961 he was even the nominal Maharaja of the princely State to ban the traditional form of government during the tenure of Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1971.

In 1971 he was elected as a candidate of the Hindu nationalist Sangh party in January for the Members of the lower house ( Lok Sabha ). However, the mid-1970s he became a member of the Indian National Congress ( INC) Gandhi.

In October 1984 Scindia was appointed by Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi to the Minister for Railways ( Indian Railways ) in whose government he served until the end of Gandhi's term of office in December 1989. In the PV Narasimha Rao government of Prime Minister, he was between 1991 and 1993, first Minister of Civil Aviation and later from 1995 to the end of his term of office 16 May 1996 marked Minister for the development of human capital.

Madhavrao Scindia died in a plane crash at a domestic flight.
