Mads Gilbert

Mads Gilbert ( born June 2, 1947 in Porsgrunn ) is a Norwegian physician and political activist. He is a professor of medicine at the University of Tromsø and a member of the Socialist Party Rødt. He led the 1999 resuscitation to Anna Bågenholm, where up to 100 doctors and assistants were involved. During the Israeli military operation in the Gaza Strip 2008/2009 ( Operation Cast Lead ), he remained there to operate Palestinian war victims, and gave numerous interviews to international media, in which he called for support to the Palestinians. According to him, sat the Israeli army there a new weapon Dense Inert Metal Explosives ( DIMES ).

Gilbert's positions are publicly controversial, since he has referred in an interview the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 as justified.

2009 Gilbert was awarded the Fritt Ord Honorary Award.
