Maeda Ikutokukai

The Ikutokukai Maeda (Japanese财 団 法人 前 田 育 徳 会, literally Zaidanhōjin Maeda Ikutokukai ) is a charitable foundation ( Koeki - Hojin ), which was established on 26 February 1926 to the cultural heritage of the Maeda clan, the former rulers of to get the most prosperous feudal Japan's Kaga ( Kanazawa ), and manage. The headquarters of the Foundation in Komaba, Meguro ( Tokyo). The collection focuses on written language materials and includes old documents, Japanese and Chinese books, but also craft items, such as swords, armor, and household items. The documents that are held by the Foundation, are also known as " Sonkeikaku Library " (尊 経 阁 文库, Sonkeikaku bunko ) is known. This collection of old books, historical records and documents available to researchers on request only.

The library name is derived from a private collection of books of the fifth daimyo of the Kaga fief, Maeda Tsunanori. This original collection, also known as " Sonkeikaku - book collection " (尊 経 阁 蔵 书, Sonkeikaku zōsho ) differs from the " Sonkeikaku library ".

Owned by the Maeda Ikutokukai there are 22 National Treasures of Japan and 76 Important Cultural Property. Because the library itself does not have the options of a museum exhibition, visit requests are usually rejected. Nevertheless, the Art Museum of Ishikawa ( Ishikawa Prefectural Museum of Art) prefecture has an exhibition space dedicated to Maeda Ikutokukai collection and where art and craft pieces are on permanent display.
