Maelo Ruiz

Maelo Ruíz; actually Ismael Ruiz Hernández ( born October 22, 1966 in New York City ), is a Puerto Rican salsa musician descent.

Life

Maelo Ruíz was born in the United States, but in 1970 his family went back to their native Puerto Rico. His career began with Ruiz 16 years at the Escuela Libre de Música de Caguas. In 1985 he became a singer with Pedro Conga y Orquesta Internacional and remained there until 1992. Using the hit No Te quites La Ropa they sold more than 50,000 records and won the first gold record in Puerto Rico. With more songs like Atrévete, Vicio, Quiero Volver, Si Supieras, Te Quiero Tanto Amor Amor and Me Niegas Maelo Ruiz became internationally known as salsa musicians in Latin America. In 1994, he released his first solo album out as a solo artist, which included among others the title Te Necesito Mí Amor, who stayed for four weeks at number one in the Colombian charts. Also high rankings he reached in Panama, Venezuela, Miami, Los Angeles and Chicago. The second album Maelo experencia of 1996 reached with songs like Te Amo, El Reloj Cucu, La Primera Noche De Mi Corazón and La Dueña the audience in Texas and Mexico. With Maelo Ruiz in 1999 and songs like Oh Mujer, A Media Luz and Maldito Maelo Ruíz also managed the breakthrough in the European Salsa scene. In 2003 he founded his own record label Codiscos. Currently Maelo Ruíz is employed among others at the Universidad Autonoma de Guadalajara Campus Tabasco in Mexico and promote young musical talent there.
