Maffeo Vegio
Maffeo Vegio (also latin Mapheus Vegius; * 1407 in Lodi, † 1458 in Rome ) was an Italian poet and author of the humanist Latin.
Vegio studied in Milan and Pavia, and then went to Rome, where he belonged to the papal court under Martin V and Eugene IV. He wrote with Aeneidos Liber XIII a " thirteenth book" as a complement to Virgil's Aeneid ( 1428 originated in Pavia ) and the mythological epics Astyanax and Aureum vellus. Best known for his pedagogical treatise " De educatione liberorum " (1445-1448), in which he combined humanist ideas with Christian ideals. In addition Vegio written books on archeology and etymology.
