Magallanes Province

The Magallanes Province is a province of Chile within the Magallanes y Antártica Chilena de la. It is located south of the province of Última Esperanza, and west of the province of Tierra del Fuego.

The province includes the extreme south of the Chilean mainland with the Brunswick Peninsula and the north area adjacent to the border with Argentina on 52 latitude, the islands Dawson, Riesco, Santa Inés, Clarence, Desolación and other islands.

According to the results of the census of 2012, the province has 128 199 inhabitants in an area of ​​38400.8 km ², making it the most populous province in the region.

In the province of 63,427 men and 64 772 women live; 123 599 people live in the urban settlement of Punta Arenas himself, 4,600 in the country.

Capital and only urban settlement of the province is Punta Arenas on the Brunswick Peninsula. Other major settlements are René Schneider, Puerto Harris (both Comuna Punta Arenas ), Posesion Uno, Bernardo O'Higgins (both Comuna San Gregorio ) and Villa Tehuelches ( Comuna Laguna Blanca).
