Magdalene of Canossa

Magdalena Gabriela Marchioness of Canossa (it Maddalena dei marchesi Gabriella di Canossa ) (* March 1, 1774 in Verona, † April 10, 1835 ibid ) was an Italian nun, foundress and saint.

Life

She was the daughter of the Marquis Ottavio di Canossa and Countess Teresa Szluha. Her father died in October 1779 in a tragic accident in the Lessinia during a hike, her mother married in 1781 the Marquis of Mantua Edoardo Zenetti and left the family.

After a short time in Karmelitenklöstern, 1791 in Verona, 1792 in Congeliano Veneto, she took care of itself since 1800 to neglected children.
