Maglód

Maglód [ mɒglo ː d] is a small town on the eastern outskirts of the Hungarian capital Budapest.

History

The first time was mentioned in documents in 1352. During the Ottoman wars and the Rákóczi War of Independence the village was devastated and then colonized by Slovak serfs again. The most important historical event: here, the parents of the greatest Hungarian national poet Sándor Petőfi met. Maglód has received the title of city on 1 July 2007. The population has almost doubled in the last decade. Most residents work in Budapest.

Traffic

The main road 31 and the Budapest ring road M0 run right on the edge of the city. With Budapest Maglód is closely connected by rail and bus. By train The Budapest Eastern Railway Station can be reached in 30 minutes.
