Mailis Reps

Mailis Reps ( born January 13, 1975 in Tallinn) is an Estonian politician. She was 2002/2003 and 2005-2007 Minister of Education and Research of the Republic of Estonia.

Training

Mailis Reps (nee edge ) studied after graduating from high school from 1993 to 1998 at the private Tallinn University Akadeemia North jurisprudence. 1996/97 she studied economics in Michigan, 1998/99 law at the Central European University in Budapest and the 1999/2000 European Relations at the University of Maastricht.

Politician

2000/2001 was employed Mailis Reps at the European Commission (Directorate-General for Personnel and Administration ). Thereafter she devoted himself to politics. It is part of the Centre Party to ( Keskerakond ).

From 2003 to 2005, Mailis Reps Member of the Estonian Parliament ( Riigikogu ). From January 2002 to April 2004 she was Minister of Education ( since 1 January 2003 Minister for Education and Research) of the Republic of Estonia in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Siim Kallas. She then moved as MPs back to parliament.

From April 2005 to April 2007 she was again in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Andrus Ansip, Minister of Education and Research. Since the departure of the Centre Party from the government it is again a member of Parliament. She currently holds the position of deputy chairman of the culture committee. Since 2005 Mailis Reps is deputy chairman of the Estonian Centre Party.

Private life

Mailis Reps is married to the Latvian lawyer Agris Repšs. The couple has three children.
