Mainichi Shimbun

The Mainichi Shimbun (Japanese毎 日 新闻, literally " Daily Newspaper " ) is a Japanese newspaper.

On February 21 Nichi Nichi Shimbun 1872, Tōkyō was founded, which was a precursor to the Mainichi Shimbun. In 1944, she was united with the Osaka Mainichi Shimbun, which had been founded in 1876 to national Mainichi Shimbun. The newspaper has its headquarters in Tokyo. She is a liberal.

The Mainichi Shimbun published in a morning and an evening edition. She reached in the morning edition has a circulation of about four million and in the evening edition of one of the approximately two million copies. It is thus Yomiuri Shimbun and Asahi Shimbun by the nationally and world's third largest daily newspaper. The newspaper employs approximately 3,200 people and operates about 390 offices. Like all major Japanese newspapers Mainichi Shimbun is also in cooperation with a television station; here it is Tokyo Broadcasting System ( TBS).

The Mainichi Eiga Concours the newspaper held annually since 1946, one of the major Japanese film award ceremonies.
