Major (Manga)

Major (proper spelling in capital letters ) is a manga series by Takuya Mitsuda, which was also implemented as an anime series. The sports manga, which includes more than 10,000 pages, aimed at boys in elementary to middle school age, that can be assigned to the shōnen genus.

Action

Gorō Honda is the son of a professional baseball player. Although he is only six years old, he dreams of a future as a professional baseball player to follow in the footsteps of his successful father. After his mother dies, he has only to his father and preschool teacher Momoko Hoshino contact that particular detail cares about Gorō. Because there are no playmates are in preschool at his age and also in the neighborhood a child lives, loves baseball so like him, the boy has no one with whom he can play baseball. The local team of " Little League " only takes children from the age of nine years in their team. Finally, Gorō Toshiya Satō get to know, a boy from the neighborhood, which is just as fascinated by this sport as he did so he brings him the rules for and trained diligently with him. Between Goro's father, Shigeharu and Momoko who is becoming more and more integrated into the life of the Hondas, created an intimate relationship. But before the two are happy, Shigeharu dies in a sports accident.

After he and his family had to move because his father played temporarily for another team, he returns as a high school student back in his hometown. To play baseball as a pitcher is hardly to think, as Gorō was three years ago broke his right shoulder in a game and since then no longer can throw with his right arm. Although Gorō is actually a right-handed pitcher, but changes due to violation of his throwing hand. He eventually plays for Kaido High School, which is known for its prestigerächtiges baseball team.

Gorō is getting better, and having his back to the Kaido school, he is now looking to a new school to be even more successful with their baseball team. Due to various personal reasons and in particular the interference Egashiras reject all schools with a baseball club from its application.

Finally, Gorō Shigeno travels to the U.S. to play there in Major League and to be professional. But the language barrier and his ignorance of American laws and practices are initially problem. However, he is self-conscious approach to the selection tests of the American teams, and shows how good he really is as a pitcher. After various detours and setbacks gets a contract for a minor team and thus mastering the first step towards Major League.

After some time he returned to Japan. He was able to establish itself in American baseball and now waiting for new challenges in Japan. His great goal to be successful in the major league, is still pending.

Finally, it is possible Gorō to come up in the Major League and he gives everything to lead his team, the "Indiana Hornets ' top of the table. He quickly is clear, however, that the Major League is quite a step up from the World Cup. And the defeat of his national team against the U.S. goes to him not as unscathed as it first seemed.

Publications

Major appeared in Japan in the manga magazine Shōnen Sunday from issue 33/1994 to 32/ 2010. The publisher Shogakukan brought the single chapter out in a total of 78 collecting volumes ( tankōbon ).

Lastly, the volumes sold over 160,000 times each.

Anime

The manga was implemented from 2004 to 2010 as an anime television series in six seasons, during which from Season 4 changed the production.

The first three seasons were animated by Studio Hibari directed by Ken'ichi Kasai. The character design was in the first season of Masaru (also known as Katsu read) Oshiro and in the second and third season of Ken'ichi Onuki and Koichi Usami.

With the fourth season, which aired from 2008, moved the studio to SynergySP, where the ( total ) directed Ken'ichi Kasai remained however Riki Fukushima as co- director was supported. There were also "Baseball directors " as a technical advisor: in the fourth season Shigetoshi Hasegawa, in the fifth season Akinori Ōtsuka and in the sixth season Takashi Saitō - all former " Nippon Professional Baseball" - and " Major League Baseball" players. The character design is by Ken'ichi Onuki.

The series was broadcast on 13 November 2004 to September 25, 2010 by the Japanese television station NHK. The anime was also sent to the Philippines.

13 December 2008 arrived in Japan a movie with the title Gekijōban Major: out yūjo no Winning Shot (剧场版MAJORメジャー 友情 の 一 球(ウィニング ショット) ~ Winingu Shotto ). This was animated by Studio Xebec.

After completion of the series followed by two original video animation of SynergySP. Major: Message (メジャー メッセージ, Meja: Messēji ) was published on 17 December 2010 as a supplement to the limited version of the last Manga strip. Major World Series Hen: Yume no Shunkan e (メジャー ワールド シリーズ 編 夢 の 瞬間 へ, Meja Warudo Shirīzu Hen: Yume no Shunkan e) consists of two parts, the first of which on 16 December 2011 and the second on 18 January appeared in 2012.
