Action

The wicked Kumaraveeran robs from the rich and distributed his loot to the poor. He lives a double life, hiding during the day after his second identity as a Muslim merchant Abdul Rahim. Kumaraveeran falls in love with the beautiful Poonkothai that he has liberated from the clutches of kidnappers. The police later used to catch Kumaraveeran. The police officer turns out in the end as the brother of the bandits out.

Background

Karunanidhi author uses not only the dialogues here and the selection of lyrics for the DMK political message. The lyrics to the music of SM Subbaiah Naidu come from Namakkal Kavingar, Balasubramanyam, Bharatidasan, TN Ramaiah Das and Makkalanban. Success was particularly a sung by TM Soundararajan piece based on a text of the Tamil poet Bharatidasan.

MG Ramachandran established by this movie also his political Superman image with its own sense of justice.

Malaikallan was so successful that the film studio in 1955 a Hindi remake could customize with the title Azad directed by Sreeramulu Naidu. The main roles is played Dilip Kumar and Meena Kumari.
