Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra

The Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra ( MPO ) was established in 1997. The MPO has its headquarters in the capital Kuala Lumpur. The orchestra is housed in the Dewan Filharmonik Petronas ( Petronas Philharmonic Hall ) in Kuala Lumpur. The orchestra performs regularly throughout Malaysia and Singapore. In addition, the MPO also went on tour: Korea (2001 ), Australia (2004 ), China ( 2006), Taiwan (2007 ) and Japan ( 2009).

The motto of the orchestra is: Hear and You will see ( Listen and you 'll see )

Numerous guest conductors, including Lorin Maazel, Vadimn Repin or Sir Neville Marriner, who also conducts the MPO.

Performances

The MPO has made recordings for the BIS label, including with the music of the French composer Edouard Lalo.

The Schedule has a very wide repertoire: Classical composers such as Ludwig van Beethoven, Niccolo Paganini are part of the repertoire of the MPO, as 20th century composers such as Alfred Schnittke, Georges Enescu, Miklós Rózsa and Erich Wolfgang Korngold.

Occupation

The MPO has 36 root musicians. In addition, there is a youth orchestra, the Malaysian Philharmonic Youth Orchestra.
