Mallet (crater)

58.92

Mallet is an impact crater in the rocky and rugged southeastern quadrant on the front of the moon. It lies on the edge of a straight-running Tales called Vallis Rheita. In a north-westerly direction on the other side of the valley of the crater is young.

Due to its age, the outer edge of Mallet by erosion and subsequent impacts is worn and rounded. The satellite crater ' Mallet A' occupies the southwestern quarter of the crater interior. A few kilometers away is enough ' Mallet B' almost up to the outside environment before. The Rheita valley crosses the northeast area of the crater rim, forming a nearly linear slope along the outer edge. In the vicinity of the inner north wall a small impact marks the crater floor.
