Maltesholm Castle

Castle Malte Holm (Swedish Malte Holms slott ) is located approximately 18 kilometers south of the Swedish town of Kristianstad in the village Östra Sönnarslöv in the province of Skåne County.

The castle was built in the 1630s under the landlord Malte Juel of Gjesinge in Renaissance style. The building with its two wings, surrounded by a moat. At the beginning of the 1780s the castle was rebuilt, while the top floor was replaced by the present roof.

The castle is surrounded by one of the most beautiful parks in Skåne. In the 17th century a Baroque park was created, which was formed a century later, in the classical style and complemented by a far- stretched landscape park in the 19th century. The park is a building designed by architect Carl Hårleman pleasure-house and through the park leads of the 1.3 -kilometer Höge väg to the castle, up to 6 meters high and 12 to 20 meters wide driveway.
