Malutang Dam

The Malutang Dam is a shut-off on the River Panlong Jiang (盘龙江) the place Malutang (马鹿 塘) of the circle Malipo Autonomous County in Wenshan Zhuang and Miao of China's Yunnan province.

The main purpose of the dam is the generation of electricity from hydropower. The power plant was built in two phases. Level I consists of a 40 m high concrete gravity dam, came from where the water through a 3460 m long tunnel to a 100 - MW power house. The construction of Stage I began in 2002 and the first 50 MW generator, driven by a Francis turbine was placed in service in October 2004 and the second in January 2005. Stage II was the construction of a 156 m high dam CFR ( Malutang Dam ) 200 m downstream of stage I. the power house of level II contains three 100 MW generators, also driven by Francis turbines. The construction of Stage II began in August 2005 and the reservoir was flooded in October 2009. In December 2009, the first 100 - MW generator was put into operation. The last two followed in May 2010.

The Malutang Reservoir flooded the stage -I structure. However, the intake tower of stage II supplies the power plants of both stages of water, so that stage I can continue working.
