Mamou is a small town in Evangeline Parish in the U.S. state of Louisiana.

Culture

Mamou is in the heart of Acadiana, Louisiana Cajun region. The city is famous for its music and calls himself " The Cajun Music Capital of the World" ( the world capital of Cajun music ). Mamou emerged as a name in different songs on (eg Big Mamou, Tit Galop Pour Mamou and Valse de Grand Mamou ). In Mamou every Saturday morning is played in Fred 's Lounge Cajun music that is simultaneously broadcast over the radio in the entire Cajun region.

Every year at the Mardi Gras will be held in Mamou the so-called " Courir de Mardi Gras". Here, ride the inhabitants Mamous from in the surrounding area and collect at the neighbors chickens and other ingredients for a gumbo one that is cooked to the return and a parade on 6th Street for all. Throughout the day playing on the main road and the adjacent pubs Cajun and Zydeco bands.
