MAN Diesel & Turbo SE ( Societas Europaea ), headquartered in Augsburg is a provider of large-bore diesel engines and turbomachinery for marine and stationary applications. The company designs two -stroke and four -stroke engines that are manufactured both by its licensees and have power outputs ranging from 450 kW to 87 MW. It also develops and manufactures MAN Diesel & Turbo gas turbines up to 50 MW, steam turbines of up to 150 MW and compressors with volume flows of up to 1.5 million m³ / h and pressures up to 1000 bar. Turbochargers, CP propellers, gas engines and chemical reactors complement the product portfolio. The delivery and performance of the MAN Diesel & Turbo includes complete marine propulsion systems, turbomachinery units for the oil & gas as well as the process industries and turnkey power plants. Under the brand MAN PrimeServ Customers receive worldwide after-sales services. The company employs around 12 700 employees in more than 100 international sites, primarily in Germany, Denmark, France, Switzerland, the Czech Republic, Italy, India and China. MAN Diesel & Turbo is a company of the Power Engineering business area of MAN SE, which is listed on the DAX share index of the 30 leading companies in Germany. The MAN Diesel & Turbo SE was established in March 2010 from the merger of the two former companies MAN MAN Diesel SE and MAN Turbo AG. Together, the companies generated sales of 3.8 billion euros and an operating profit of 500 million euros in 2009.

Products

Marine engines ( Marine Engines )

MAN Diesel & Turbo offers for a medium-speed four-stroke engines which cover a power range 177-21600 kW (approx. 240-29400 PS) and can be operated with liquid or gaseous fuels. Medium-speed engines are used to power all types of merchant vessel, but used because of their compactness and the possibility of elastic storage in passenger ships. In addition to cruise ships are specialized vessels such as tugs, dredgers or Kabelleger further applications. Smaller medium-speed four-stroke engines are also built into fast ferries and naval vessels. The engines are produced at the company's sites in Augsburg, Saint- Nazaire (France) and Aurangabad ( India) as well as licensees. On the other hand developed by MAN Diesel & Turbo at the company's Copenhagen, Denmark, large two-stroke diesel engines, have a range of services the 2-87 MW (approx. 2000-115000 PS). The motors are manufactured in the immediate vicinity of the yards because of their size by international licensees and drive large container ships, freighters and oil tankers on. Two-stroke engine, also known as slow -speed diesel engines, need for power transmission, the transmission; they are linked via the drive shafts directly to the propellers. Through the leadership in two-stroke marine engines around 50 % of world trade is moved by engines from MAN.

Turbocharger

MAN Diesel & Turbo manufactures turbocharger for high boost pressures with single-stage radial and axial turbines. The power spectrum of the loader, which come in both two-stroke and four-stroke marine engines and stationary equipment used ranges from about 300 kW to 30,000 kW engine power.

Power plants (Power Plants)

MAN diesel engines are used in stationary applications especially for power plants and the emergency power supply. These range from smaller gensets, gensets called, to turnkey power plants with capacities of up to 400 MW. The range of stationary systems includes four-stroke engines with a unit capacity of 47 kW to 18,900 kW and two-stroke engines for unit capacities up to 80,000 kW. The power plants are operated, among others, heavy oil, diesel, gas or renewable fuels such as jatropha oil, animal fat or recycled vegetable oils. Under the brand MAN Power Management MAN Diesel & Turbo also takes over the operation and maintenance of power plants for its customers.

Turbomachinery ( Turbo Machinery)

For the process and basic industries, fertilizer production, iron and steel production or development for petrochemical applications and produces MAN Diesel & Turbo Compressors, as well as gas and steam turbines for electricity production. In addition, the company offers compression solutions for the oil and gas industry ( upstream, midstream, downstream). These include hermetically sealed compressors with magnetic bearings and high-pressure compressors with discharge pressures of 300 to 1000 bar. MAN Diesel & Turbo also builds isotherm for the processing of industrial gases. MAN - gear compressors are used for applications in the field of industrial gases or in the processing and transport of CO2. Production sites are Oberhausen, Berlin, Hamburg, Zurich ( Switzerland ) and Schio (Italy).
