Mandaic alphabet

The Mandaean Scripture is based on the Aramaic script and is used to write the Mandaean language. The Mandaean name of the font is Abagada or Abaga, according to the first letter of the alphabet, similar to the Arab Abdschad. The alphabet consists of 24 letters; the 22 letters of the Aramaic alphabet, as well as two extra at the end. Unlike in most Semitic alphabets the vowels are written.
