The northern Chinese dialects (Chinese北方 话or北方 话Pinyin: listen Běifānghuà / i ) belong to the Chinese languages ​​and form the basis for the modern, standardized Mandarin Chinese. Another name is Guanhua (官 话or官 话), literally " official language ". In English, is used as a general term for the northern dialects of Mandarin term.

Spread the northern Chinese dialects in the People's Republic of China north of the Yangtze River, as well as in a belt south of the river of Qiujiang (Jiangxi ) to Zhenjiang (Jiangsu), in Hubei province with the exception of the southeastern bay, Sichuan, Yunnan, Guizhou, northwestern Guangxi and northwestern Hunan.

Main dialects

The eight main dialects are:

• 东北= Northeastern dialect ( Manchuria )
• 北京Beijing dialect = (whose grammar does not match the high-level language )
• 冀鲁= Ji- Lu - dialect ( spoken in Hebei ( " Ji " ) and Shandong ( " Lu " ) )
• 胶 辽= Jiao -Liao - dialect ( spoken in the Shandong and Liaodong Peninsula )
• 中原= Zhongyuan dialect (including in Henan Province, with more than 120 million speakers of the strongest dialect)
• 兰 银= Lan Yin dialect ( spoken around Lanzhou and Yinchuan, the Kyrgyz minority language Dungan also falls under here )
• 江 准= Jianghuai dialect ( spoken specifically on the northern bank of the Yangtze River )
• 西南= southwestern dialect ( southwestern provinces )

If one adds the high Chinese to the northern dialects, the distribution area increased even further, because the default language is taught everywhere in the Chinese room in the school and serves as a lingua franca. Long-established expatriate Chinese communities speak mostly southern Chinese dialects, but more recent emigrants from the People's Republic also use the northern dialects stronger.

The northern dialect of China can be further subdivided into an eastern dialect as it is spoken, among others, in Beijing, and a western.
