Manfred Berg

Manfred Berg ( born December 4, 1959 in Wesel ) is a German historian.

Life

Manfred Berg studied from 1980 to 1985 History, Political Science and Philosophy at the University of Heidelberg and received his doctorate in 1988 at the trade ibid Modern History. In 1998, the Habilitation at the Free University of Berlin, Department of Modern History.

From 1989 to 1992 the mountain was first assistant at the Schurman Library for American History of the History Department of the University of Heidelberg, then a research assistant at the Department of History at the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies, Free University of Berlin. From 1992 to 1997 he was a research fellow at the German Historical Institute in Washington, DC active, 1994-1995 as acting deputy director. From 2003 to 2005, Berg Director of the Center for U.S. Studies at the Foundation Leucorea the Martin -Luther- University Halle- Wittenberg. Since 2005 he has held the Curt Engelhorn Chair in American History at the University of Heidelberg.
