Manfred Durniok

Manfred Durniok ( born 2 May 1934 in Berlin, † March 7, 2003 ) was a German film producer and director.

Life

Manfred Durniok shot his first documentary short films in the second half of the 1950s. In 1970 he won the German Film Award in Gold for the film Malatesta.

For Colonel Redl he was awarded the British Academy Film Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1986.

Manfred Durniok was Mitregisseur of the book by Viktor Suvorov Russian dissident turned film Akwarium.

On Durniok initiative and the establishment of the Chinese Garden of the Reclaimed Moon in Berlin's Marzahn goes back. He is an honorary citizen of the city of Beijing.
