Mani people

The Mani are a small ethnic group in southern Thailand, which differs by their small body size, frizzy hair and darker skin color of the majority population. They count as the Semang in nearby Malaysia to the groups designated as " Negritos ". Their language is Tonga (also called Mos ), a Mon-Khmer language. Their number was according to an estimate in 2000 was 300 people.

They traditionally lived as hunter-gatherers primarily in two areas in the southern Thai provinces of Trang and Satun. In addition, some Mani now live in other areas of southern Thailand.
