Manicouagan River

The Rivière Manicouagan is a river in the Côte -Nord administrative region of the Canadian province of Quebec.
Its source is the Manicouagan Reservoir. From there, it flows 200 km to the south, so as to open at Baie -Comeau in the St. Lawrence River. Including its source Rivière Mouchalagane is its flow length 560 km. It is believed that the name comes from the Montagnais language and " where birch trees are found " means.
Several power plants Hydro-Québec utilize the water power of the Manicouagan. Upriver seen are:
- McCormick - 304 MW, operated jointly by Hydro-Québec and Alcoa
- Manic - 1-184 MW
- Jean- Lesage ( Manic -2) - 1145 MW
- René Lévesque - ( Manic -3) - 1244 MW
- Manic - 5-1596 MW
- Manic -5 -PA - 1064 MW
