The Manitowoc River is a 65 km long river in the east of the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It flows into the city of Manitowoc in Lake Michigan.

Course

The Manitowoc River arises in the east of Calumet County from the confluence of its two source rivers:

  • The South Branch Manitowoc River, the longer of the two source rivers, rises in the northeast of Fond du Lac County and flows in a northeasterly direction in the Calumet County. There he passed the town of Chilton and unites with the kill Snake River.
  • The North Branch Manitowoc River rises in the north of Calumet County. From there it flows in a south-easterly direction to the confluence with the South Branch Manitowoc River.

After the confluence of the headwaters of the river flows mostly in an easterly direction through the central Manitowoc County, until it reaches its confluence with Lake Michigan in the city of Manitowoc.

The largest tributary of the Manitowoc River is coming from the north Branch River.
