Manny Díaz (Florida politician)

Manuel Alberto Díaz ( called Manny Diaz, born November 5, 1954 in Havana, Cuba), was from 2001 to 2009, the mayor of Miami, Florida. He belonged to no political party.

1977 reached Diaz bachelor's degree in political science at Florida International University and in 1980 he received the Doctor of Laws from the University of Miami School of Law.

He was a practicing attorney, when he was elected as the successor to Joe Carollo as mayor of Miami. In 2006 he was re-elected for a second term.

2004 Diaz was elected by the Manhattan Institute to the " Urban Innovator of the Year " ("city planner of the year ").

Diaz is married and father of four children.
