Nature
The mountain is volcanic, submarine origin. It is located in the south of the island in the Suco Macadade and is without climbing climbable.
The wooded area is a nature reserve and part of the islandwide Important Bird Area with an area of 14,118 hectares. Up to a height of 600 m farming is done. About 700 m there are still stocks of tropical forests, especially in the sheltered valleys. The search for firewood, however, threatens the forest.
