Manuel Baldizón

Manuel Baldizón ( born May 6, 1970 in Flores ) is a Guatemalan politician.

Life

Baldizón was in his home region of Petén rich within a few years as an entrepreneur. He is leader of the party "Renewed Democratic Freedom" ( Lider ) in the Congress of the Republic of Guatemala and an avowed supporter of the death penalty.

He joined the presidential election in 2011 as a candidate. He promised the introduction of public executions and the dissolution of the police in favor of a military structured National Guard. His vice-presidential candidate was Raquel Blandon, the ex-wife of former President Vinicio Cerezo. In the first round he was with 23.2% Runner-up of the 10 approved for election candidates. In the runoff election on November 6, 2011, he was defeated with 45.98 % of the ex-general Otto Pérez Molina.
