Manuel Infante

Manuel Infante ( born July 29, 1883 in Osuna in Seville, † April 21, 1958 in Paris) was a Spanish composer and conductor.

Life and work

Infante studied with Enric Morera in Barcelona piano and moved in 1909 to Paris, where he conducted concerts with Spanish music and devoted himself to composition. In France, he married the cellist Yvonne Cassadesus. For Infantes own compositions was in particular an pianist José Iturbi.

Infante wrote, among other things, an opera ( Almanza ), but his compositional focus was the piano, on which he composed dance- virtuoso of the Spanish folk music (especially his Andalusian homeland) embossed works. Among the better-known compositions include his 1921 resulting 3 Danzas andaluzas for 2 pianos.
