Manuel Rodríguez Patriotic Front

The Frente Patriótico Manuel Rodríguez ( FPMR ), also Frente Patriótico, is a leftist terrorist Chilean underground organization. She fought during the dictatorship of Pinochet against the military regime.

History

The Frente was founded in September 1980 by the people living in the Soviet Union in exile in Moscow Communist Party General Secretary, Luis Corvalán. The first action was a spectacular assassination of several high-voltage lines in 1983, in which a large part of the country was affected by the power failure.

On September 7, 1986 25 members of the group committed an assassination attempt on Pinochet, the this but unhurt survived.

After the Aylwin government decided in 1990 to release any resistance fighters against the dictatorship, which have been associated with violent crime, the FPMR as other groups decided, also, to continue their struggle.
