Maple Leaf Rag
The Maple Leaf Rag (English for " Maple Leaf Ragtime "; Copyright registered on September 18, 1899) is one of the first and at the same time well-known for Piano Rags by Scott Joplin.
In the first six weeks after the publication of the note issue was sold 75,000 times, it eventually became more than 1 million copies. That made Joplin the first musician who passed this mark.
The structure follows the structure of AA BB A CC DD and so typical of works of this genre basic scheme, where the " C " part, in the notes as "Trio " refers to, is in the key of D flat major (the other parts are in A flat major ) and in the left hand unusually high demands on the technique of the artist is who has to deal with here intervallic leaps over two octaves in rapid succession.
