Mara Švel-Garmišek

Mara SVEL - Gamiršek, even Mara threshold, ( born January 3, 1900 in Srijemska Mitrovica, † December 7, 1975 in Zagreb) was a Croatian writer.

Life

Mara SVEL belonged to the Croatian ethnic group of Schokzen. After attending elementary school in her hometown, she attended high school in Susak and then began to study medicine. After marriage she broke off this and turned in the wake of the literature.

Importance

Mara SVEL began to publish short stories in the 40s in the Matica Hrvatska. Here, their stories deserve special interest, which describe the life of the small, now defunct Croatian ethnic group of Schokzen.
