Marathon Oasis de Montreal

The Montreal Marathon ( full name Marathon Oasis de Montréal) is a marathon in the Canadian city of Montreal. He first took place in 1979. After the marathon had not been carried out from 1998 to 2002, new organizers took over the event in 2003 and placed him on a broader basis. The program also includes a half marathon, a 10 - kilometer run, a 5 - kilometer run, a student race over 5 km and a children's race over a kilometer.

The route begins on the Île Sainte -Hélène, an institution situated in Saint Lawrence Island. Then leads to the Ile Notre -Dame, where the Formula 1 Circuit Gilles -Villeneuve is circumnavigated. About the Pont de la Concorde and past the Habitat 67 leads to the Montreal old town. Continue through downtown past the UQAM campus and through the district of Rosemont -La Petite- Patrie district of Mercier - Hochelaga to -Maisonneuve. There, the goal was earlier in the Olympic Stadium, since 2011, the race ends in the neighboring Parc Maisonneuve.

2010 were prepared with 21,000 runners, a record number of participants. Record winner is the Ethiopian Kebede Balcha who won four times (1979, 1981, 1983 and 1985 ) the race.
