Marc Albrecht
Marc Albrecht (born 1964 ) is a German conductor. He is the son of conductor George Alexander Albrecht ( b. 1935 ) and the cousin of the Minister Ursula von der Leyen.
Career
Marc Albrecht studied with his father, then in Vienna, where he assisted Claudio Abbado at the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra. After engagements at the Hamburg State Opera ( where in 1988 he Wizard of unrelated with him music director Gerd Albrecht was ) and Dresden Albrecht in 1995 musical director at the Staatstheater Darmstadt. 2001 to 2004 he worked as a freelance conductor and toured successfully in Europe and overseas.
As a concert orchestra Albrecht initiated during this period included the Berlin and Munich Philharmonic, the Concertgebouw Orchestra of Amsterdam, the City of Birmingham Orchestra, St. Cecilia Rome, the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Staatskapelle Dresden and the Orchestre National de Lyon.
In the musical theater field Albrecht worked previously at the Bayreuth Festival, the Salzburg Festival, at the Opéra Bastille in Paris, the Deutsche Oper Berlin ( 2001-2004 Principal Guest Conductor), Dresden's Semper Opera and the Bavarian State Opera in Munich. In the 2008/2009 season, Marc Albrecht made his debut at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden in London.
In 2004 and 2005 he was designated from 2006 to 2011, he was the reigning music director of the Strasbourg Philharmonic. Since the season 2011/2012 he has been chief conductor of the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of the Netherlands and the Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam.
