Marc Davis (astronomer)

Marc Davis ( born September 8, 1947 in Canton, Ohio) is an American astronomer.

Davis earned a bachelor's degree in physics in 1969 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the Master in 1971 and awarded the degree in 1973 each at Princeton University. From 1975 to 1981 he was a professor at Harvard University, and since then he has been a professor at the University of California, Berkeley.

Davis main field of research is cosmology. He examined the large-scale structure of the universe and the influence of dark matter on this. He is involved in several major Rotverschiebungsdurchmusterungen of galaxies, recently especially in the DEEP and DEEP2 - surveys with the Keck telescopes.
