Marc Lalonde

Marc Lalonde PC OC QC ( born July 26, 1929 in L' Ile- Perrot, Quebec ) is a Canadian lawyer and former politician of the Liberal Party.

Life

After schooling Lalonde studied law and graduated from with a Licentiate ( LL.L. ) ​​. A subsequent post-graduate studies, he finished with a Master of Arts (MA) and was then working as a lawyer.

His political career began as a candidate of the Liberal Party when he was first elected in the elections of 30 October 1972 as a member of the House of Commons and in this until July 1984 the constituency represented Outremont.

In November 1972 he was appointed by Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau as Minister of National Health and Welfare in the 20th Federal Cabinet and retained this position until September 1977.
