Michiel died on May 9, 1552 Venice, and was buried in the church of San Lorenzo. His " Notizia d' opere del disegno " was edited in the 19th century by Theodor von Frimmel and " The Anonimo Morelliano " published together with a translation into German under the title. Especially the Giorgione research benefited from the notes Michiels.
