Marcel Samuel-Rousseau

Marcel Samuel -Rousseau ( born August 18, 1882 in Paris, † June 11, 1955 ) was a French composer.

The son of composer Samuel Rousseau studied at the Conservatoire de Paris. In 1905 he won with the cantata Maia the Second Grand Prix de Rome. From 1916 to 1952 he was professor of harmony at the Conservatoire de Paris. He also worked from 1919 to 1922 as organist at the parish church of Saint- Séverin and was artistic director from 1942 to 1944 at the Paris Opera.

Samuel -Rousseau composed several operas, among others, two ballets, orchestral works and a requiem.
