Marcelino dos Santos

Marcelino dos Santos ( born May 20, 1929 in Lumbo ) is a Mozambican politician and writer.

He was a founding member of FRELIMO, in which he rose to the Vice - President. After the independence of Mozambique in 1975, Marcelino dos Santos became the first Minister of Planning and Development. The office he held until the establishment of the first parliament of the country ( " Assembleia Popular ", see also elections for the People's Assembly in Mozambique in 1977 ) in 1977, when he became its President. This office again, he held up to the holding of the first multi-party elections in 1994.

Under the pseudonyms Kalungano and Lilinha Micah, he published poems in a publishing house in Lisbon. Under its official name in 1987 he published a book about the Associação dos Escritores Moçambicanos ( Mozambican Writers' Association ) titled "Canto do Amor Natural".
