Marcin Oles

Marcin Oleś (* 1973 in Sosnowiec ) is a Polish composer and bassist. Marcin Oleś belongs with his twin brother Bartlomiej Oleś of the most interesting musicians of the younger generation Polish.

Biography

In his extensive musical career, he played from the very beginning with important representatives of the international free jazz scene, such as David Murray, Theo Jörgensmann, Ken Vandermark, Erik Friedlander, William Parker, Jean -Luc Cappozzo, Hamid Drake or Herb Robertson.

Since 2003 Marcin Oleś plays in the group Oles Jörgensmann Oles with his brother Bartlomiej and German clarinetist Theo Jörgensmann. The trio has released two CDs in Poland. The CD Directions was chosen by the Polish Internet Diapazon Jazz Magazine for "The Best Album Of the Year 2005". Meanwhile, the band has given concerts in Germany, Poland, France, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Ukraine.
