The Mare aux Vacoas is the largest drinking water reservoir in Mauritius and is about five kilometers south of the town of Curepipe in the district of Plaines Wilhems.

The approximately rectangular, almost three -square-mile dam, which also serves the energy, has about two kilometers long sides at the northwest-southeast direction and in its southeast corner a hundred meter long dam. The outflow to the Indian Ocean is the Rivière du Poste. The entire lake is surrounded by forests, including pine.
