Margaret Bailes

Margaret Bailes ( born January 23, 1951 in New York City ) is a former American track and field athlete and Olympic champion.

At the age of 16 years, starting for the Oregon Track Club Bailes 1967 finished in the championships of the Amateur Athletic Union ( AAU) in fifth in the 200 -meter run. The following year she was AAU champion in the 100 -meter run and identified a well to the existing world record of 11.1 seconds. About 200 meters she finished second behind Wyomia Tyus.
