Margaret Woodbridge

Margaret Darling Woodbridge ( nee Presley, born January 6, 1902 in Detroit, † February 23, 1995 in New York) was an American swimmer.

She took part in the Belgian city of Antwerp in the Olympic Summer Games 1920. There, she succeeded on August 29 with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay winning the gold medal. The Americans improved the existing since 1912 long course world record of 41.2 seconds, and referenced in 05:11.6, the Britons and the Swedes to the places. In the finals of the 300 - meter freestyle race Woodbridge finished in 04:42.8 second behind her teammate Ethelda Bleibtrey.

Margaret Woodbridge was inducted into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1989 and died in 1995 at the age of 93 years in the New York borough of Brooklyn.
