Margarete Teschemacher

Margarete Teschemacher ( March 3, 1903 in Cologne, † 19 May 1959 Bad Wiessee ) was a German opera singer (soprano ).

Life

Margarete Teschemacher studied at the conservatory of her hometown. In 1924 she made ​​her debut as Michaela in Bizet's Carmen in Cologne. Further engagements at the Stadttheater Aachen Stadttheater Dortmund, Mannheim National Theatre, the State Opera Stuttgart.

1934 began her international career, she sang in Buenos Aires at the Teatro Colón in the title role of Arabella by Richard Strauss. Two years later she came to London and sang at the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Countess in The Marriage of Figaro and Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni.

In 1935 she came to the Saxon State Opera Dresden, where she sang in the 1938 premiere of Daphne by Richard Strauss in the title role as a partner of Torsten Ralf. They also participated in the festivals of Salzburg.

In addition, she was a guest at La Scala, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, ​​at the Opera of Chicago and at the State Operas of Berlin, Munich and Vienna.

In 1943 she married the painter Richard tanks. After the Second World War, it was associated with a guest performance contract with the Deutsche Oper am Rhein in Dusseldorf.
