Margus Tsahkna

Margus Tsahkna ( born April 13, 1977 in Tartu, Estonian SSR) is an Estonian politician and member of the Riigikogu ( Estonian Parliament). He is one of the Conservative Party "Pro Patria and Res Publica Union " ( estn Isamaa yes Res Publica Liit (IRL )) at.

Life

He was born in 1977 in Tartu, where he also completed his Abitur in 1995. He then studied theology from 1996 to 2002 at the University of Tartu and 1999-2000 International Law at the University of Toronto.

In 2000, he joined the party "Pro Patria ". From 2001 to 2004 he was chairman of the " Noor - Isamaa ", the offspring of that association "Pro Patria " party. From 2001 to 2003 he was on the city council of the city of Tartu. From 2003 to 2006 he was political secretary of the Pro Patria Union. After the merger, the parties Pro Patria Union and Res Publica for "Pro Patria yes Res Publica Liit " he acted from 2007 to 2010 as its Secretary General as well as from 2010 to 2013 as a political secretary. Since 2013 he has been deputy chairman of the party. Since 2007 he is a member of the Estonian Parliament. Since 2011, he acts as Chairman of the Social Commission.

In 2000 he founded the Christian Youth Centre in Tartu. He is a member of the General Johan Laidoner Society, and the fraternity " Sakala Corps ".

In 2009, he became nationally popular by the second place in the Estonian Singing Competition " Laulud tähtedega ". He sang along with the winner of " Estonia Idol " Birgit Õigemeel.

Margus Tsahkna speaks Estonian, English and Russian. He is married and has two children.
