Maria Rita Saulle

Maria Rita Saulle ( born December 3, 1935 in Caserta, † July 7, 2011 in Rome) was an Italian legal scholar and university teacher who was most recently Judge of the Italian Constitutional Court ( Constitutional Court ).

Life

After schooling Rita Maria Saulle studied law at the University La Sapienza in Rome and employed after graduation in particular with international law.

In 1981, she accepted an appointment as a professor of international law at the Faculty of Maritime Law at the University of Naples Federico II, before it was between 1983 and 1986 Lecturer in European Law at the Scuola Superiore della Pubblica Amministrazione ( SSPA ), the Italian School of Administration.

After she was Professor of International Law at the University of Naples Federico II again between 1989 and 1990, she took in 1992 became professor of International Law and International Law at the University La Sapienza and taught there until her retirement in 2007.

As a recognized expert in the field of international law took her several times also participates in international conferences and was an adviser to organizations and institutions. In 1989 she represented Italy at the UN conference, which drew up the resolution adopted by the General Assembly of the United Nations on 20 November 1989 UN Children's Rights Convention. In 1993 she was among the delegation of Italy in Vienna at a UN conference on human rights before it. 1996 President of an independent International Commission on the return of refugees to Yugoslavia because of the Dayton Agreement

On 9 November 2005 Maria Rita Saulle was appointed as the second woman after Fernanda Contri to judge at the Italian Constitutional Court and held this post until her death.
